Boaz Bismuth is the Foreign Affairs Editor and commentator of "Israel Hayom", Israel's most wide-read daily newspaper

Prior to his current position Mr Bismuth served as Israeli Ambassador to Mauritania, from 2004 to 2008

He was the Paris correspondent of the daily "Yedioth Ahronoth"  from 1990 to 2004, specializing in reporting from war fronts and coverage in and of Arab countries, including hostile ones

Among his special assignments was  coverage of "Operation Solomon" which brought thousands of Jews to Israel from Ethiopia in 1991,  and personal visits to the Jewish community in Yemen in 1991, 1993 and 2010. In 1993, Mr Bismuth was the first Israeli journalist in Iran since the 1979 Islamic revolution; he visited Teheran once again in 1998. In 1999 he was the first Israeli journalist to visit Libya

In 1996 Mr Bismuth covered Israel's Operation "Grapes of Wrath" from inside Lebanon, including a visit to Hezbollah headquarters. He also covered the wars in Kosovo (1999) ,Iraq (2003) and Afghanistan (2010). Mr Bismuth was also "Israel Hayom"'s special reporter to the US elections in 2008

 

Mr Bismuth holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Bar-ilan University. In 1989 he obtained a Masters Degree in International Relations from Sorbonne University in Paris. In 1990 he obtained a second Masters Degree in African Studies (specializing in cooperation with developing countries). In 2004 he graduated with honors from the Center of Diplomatic and Strategic studies (CEDS) in Paris  

Mr Bismuth is married and has two daughters
