    Prof. Shlomo Shpiro is a professor of communication and political studies, and the Director of the Europa Institute, at Bar-Ilan University in Israel.  He specializes in the fields of communication, security, intelligence and terrorism, with emphasis on crisis communication, international intelligence cooperation, crisis management and counter-terrorism.  He is a graduate of the Hebrew University (BA 1993), the University of Salford (MA 1994) and the University of Birmingham (PhD 1998).  He conducted research at leading universities in Europe and Israel and has published extensively in his fields of specialization.  Prof. Shpiro is Chairman of the International Intelligence History Association (IIHA) and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Intelligence History, as well as Co-Convenor of the Zagreb Security Forum.  For his research, prof. Shpiro won a large number of prestigious competitive research grants and awards, including grants from the European Union ‘Horizon’ programs, NATO institutional awards, a Minerva Foundation grant, several DAAD awards, a Steinmetz research grant, and others.
