More about the School
The School of Communication at Bar-Ilan University, directed by world renowned scholar, Professor Eytan Gilboa, is one of the top communication schools in Israel.
The School offers its students academic degrees programs (BA, MA, PhD), a professional training department, five research centers and several media facilities.
The School’s faculty is comprised of internationally acclaimed scholars and experts, several of whom have established successful careers within the Israeli media.
This past September, the School inaugurated two groundbreaking programs that are the first of their kind in Israel: An undergraduate program in English for overseas students and a graduate program in International Communication.

Center for International Communication (CIC)
The Bar-Ilan Center for International Communication (CIC) is the only facility in Israel that pursues research and training in international communication and public diplomacy.
It integrates both theoretical and applied dimensions of communication research in fields such as terror and war, diplomacy and peace, trade and commerce, culture and sport, international organizations and NGO's, as well as values, norms and international law.
Center for Media & Law
The Center for Media & Law is a joint enterprise of the Faculty of Law and the School of Communication, that is dedicated to the research of topics related to the media coverage of legal affairs and the use of the media by legal actors. It also seeks to train legal and media scholars and professionals by conducting courses, conferences and workshops, and by publishing scholarly articels as well an on-line journal.
Center for Media & Religion
The goal of the Center for Media and Religion is study and research the ways in which religions utilize the media to influence the greatest potential audience. Bar-Ilan University trains current and future media professionals, while maintaining devotion to its Jewish heritage.
Center for New-Media
The Center for New Media Studies has two related, strategic purposes. First, to offer resources and research guidance regarding the ways New Media might impact the fields of our other Centers. Second, to study the impact of New Media on important areas of Israeli public life, including political governance and election campaigns, education and health. The Center for New Media examines the phenomenon from a holistic perspective – “Media Ecology” – in the context of larger social phenomena.
Modern Media facilities
The School of Communications provides its students with access to modern media facilities, such as a radio station, (Radio Bar-Ilan FM106), television studios and state-of-the-art multimedia labs so that they not only learn from the most experienced of professors, but gain hands on experience of their own. The School is home to an international broadcasting service - in English, French and Arabic.
