ד"ר איה ידלין מתמקדת במחקר ובהוראה של נקודת המפגש שבין תרבות, פוליטיקה ומדיה חדשים. מחקריה בוחנים בצורה ביקורתית את מקומם של פלטפורמות ופורמטים מקוונים (אתרי מדיה חברתיים, רדיו דיגיטלי, ממים, סלפיז, האשטגים, אפליקציות מובייל ועוד) בחיינו הפוסטמודרניים, תוך שימת דגש על תהליכים של הבניית זהות והתדיינות תרבותית בקונטקסט גלובלי.
